Crystal Skincare?! Review- Pacifica's New Crystal Collection

Hello everyone! So just in case, if you have been living under a rock (literally) crystals, and different types of stones have become pretty trendy lately. I recently stumbled across this during my last trip to Ulta. ( I originally went to Ulta to pick up some brow products...whoops)

Look Out Urban Decay! Maybelline's New Nude Palette Has Arrived!

Although summer has just begun, fall collections have been starting to hit counters and stores (both drugstore and high end.)

Maybelline has been the first in the drugstore to start releasing some of their new goodies for the upcoming fall season. Through blog posts and videos, I have discovered that Maybelline is releasing a new foundation, new color tattoos that are of a leather finish (and are permanent!), a new kajal eyeliner, and The Nudes eye shadow palette.

I have looked and searched for the new Maybelline products at all of my drugstores and have had no luck. It wasn't until I walked into my Target and of course walking down the beauty section I spotted the nude palette and the new foundation.

The Nudes palette ($9.99) is unlike anything Maybelline has released in the past. The palette contains 12 shades varying from a very light shimmery white to a charcoal grey. Most shades have a slight shimmer to them but there are 4 shades that swatched completely matte

Maybelline The Nudes eye shadow palette

I really like how Maybelline strategically placed each shadow together to create a duo, trio, or quad
The quality of the shadows vary from being super creamy and pigmented to somewhat dry and patchy.

I would have to say the stars of the palette are the four center shades (especially the gold.) The weakest shades were the shimmery white (top left) and the matte nude shade (top row third in from left.) Both applied uneven and were chalky.

There are definitely some dupes in this palette from Naked and Naked 2. Granted I think the Naked palettes are better overall due to the fact that each shade performs great. But if you are looking to save, The Nude palette is a great option.

The Back of The Nudes Palette
Overall, I do think this is a good palette to have if you are a lover of nude shadows. But I wouldn't say to rush and get this asap.

Final Thoughts: This palette I like but don't love. There are some great shades to choose from but there are also some duds as well. If you have any of the Naked palettes or any nude eye shadow palette and are happy with them then don't bother since I am sure you already have most of these shades in your collection.

Review! NYX Cream Blush in Magnolia & Powder Blush in Bourgeois Pig!

I would have to give NYX credit for having some of the best cheek products available in the drugstore. I own another stick cream blush peony and love it! Which is why I have been dying to get more NYX cheek products!

NYX Cream Blush in Magnolia ($6.99) is a vibrant barbie pink color. The consistency of the blush is super creamy and pigmented. Although I would say to work quickly once you apply to the cheekbones since once it sets, it sets. Also use a light hand because the pigmentation is very strong. From wearing this a whole day, this baby didn't budge. The brightness did fade over the day but nothing too complain about.

NYX Powder Blush in Bourgeois Pig ($5.99) is a soft rosy pink. (Kind of like a pig!) Although it has a strange name, the quality is great. No wonder so many love the powder blushes! I can't believe that I haven't tried one until now! This blush is super buttery soft and isn't chalky. The pigmentation isn't has strong as the cream blush but it does give a beautiful rosy glow to your cheeks. After wearing this all day, the staying power was good but I did notice it start to disappear after 6 hours.

Overall, I would say if you haven't tried a NYX blush product yet, then you need to! I will definitely be purchasing more shades!

Final Grades:
Magnolia: A
Bourgeois Pig: A-

Where you can get these products: At any Ulta beauty store, (I have heard NYX is starting to show up at more drugstores!) Also at NYXcosmetics.com

Review! Maybelline New Color Elixirs in Petal Plush & Celestial Coral!

These glosses have made a huge impression on the beauty community. These new color elixirs are not only available in a ton of new shades but they are also cute as a button.

The two shades I got are:
Petal Plush: A nude glittery baby pink
Celestial Coral: A creamy pink coral

Petal plush comes off as a very pale pink. I personally think it look unflattering just worn on its own. I would wear it over a nude or pink lipstick.

Celestial coral is much more pigmented with rich color payoff and leaves a slight stain afterwards.

I do have to point out that these glosses have a weird plastic smell to them which I am not a fan of.
The applicators also are shaped similar to the L'Oreal Carress glosses that were released last year.

The more darker the color the more pigmentation it had I found. Where as the pale, more nude colors were very sheer. The colors that did have a deeper pigment had a great color payoff and left a slight stain. After eight hours of wear, these glosses didn't last too long with only a few hours of staying power. Forget eating or drinking cause you will have to reapply.

Overall, I would say to pick more of the deeper shades in the collection because the richer the color, the more pigmentation it had, and it has more staying power

Overall Grade

Celestial Coral: B

Review! New Maybelline Color Tattoos in Matte Brown & Nude Pink!

More color tattoos! And this time matte ones!

You all should know I think Color Tattoos are one of the holy grails from Maybelline and I was so excited to finally see a matte collection.

Maybelline released three new limited edition (Yes limited edition boo!) matte shades part of the gilded in gold collection.

The two shades I picked up are
Matte Brown: The name really speaks for itself
Nude Pink: Again the name speaks for itself ha!

The last shade didn't interest me since it was a yellow based nude.

Like all my other color tattoos, consistency was buttery soft, it blended well, and wore well over primer for a full eight hours with minimal creasing.

Matte brown is a great base for creating a darker brown smokey eye (a blue and green eyed gals best friend!) The pigmentation is great but use a light finger cause it can go too drastic very quickly if applied all over the lid and crease.

Nude pink I know will be a popular hit among beauty lovers. This shade is a must have for any no makeup makeup look lovers. Its just the perfect shade to use as a base for an easy wash of color. I love using this all of the lid and then using a slightly darker brown in the crease and blend it out. (Perfect for class or work!)

Overall, it shouldn't be a surprise that I love these. I would highly reccommend them if you love color tattoos or are a lover of cream shadows.

Overall Grade:
Matte Brown: A
Nude Pink: A

Where you can get these products: At any drugstore or major retailer that sells Maybelline cosmetics. Don't forget, these are limited edition so get them now before its too late!

P.S- Maybelline, if you could possibly release a permanent collection of matte color tattoos I will love you even more :)

Have a great day guys!

Review! Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Hello again!

TGIF!

Today I wanted to share with you guys a new powder I had to try. I recently hauled this a few videos back Here

This product is huge and much loved in the beauty community. I knew I had to try it since I have to wear powder to control my oily t-zone.

This product comes with 14g of product! That will literally last me forever! I really enjoyed using this powder. It was finely milled and felt really soft. It also applied on really well. After 6 or 7 hours I started noticing a little shine but nothing too bad. I would say that this is a great dupe for higher end powders being that it's finely milled, feels like silk and has good wear time. I got the transparent shade since I prefer transparency powders. I also love the embossed little crown detail in the powder. Makes it look more elegant! I will enjoy using this product throughout the upcoming fall and winter months!

Overall Grade: A
Where you can get this product: At any drugstore or major retailer that sells Rimmel cosmetics.

Review! New Revlon Super Lustrous Lipglosses!

Along with the lipsticks Revlon released, there are a whole new slew of lipglosses to go along with the collection as well!

I have never tried a Revlon lipgloss because I know this might sound bad, but I get really nervous about drugstore lipgloss mainly because I can't stand sticky lipgloss that just makes you look like a hot mess. However, I have heard really great things about Revlon's lipglosses saying that they are super creamy, pigmented and don't stick!

So being the beauty junkie I am, I had to check these out!

I got two lipglosses that match the two other lipsticks I picked up in the collection. The applicator is a typical lipgloss wand but I like the packaging for some odd reason. Simple and pretty to look at I think.

Kiss Me Coral on left & Pinkissimo on right
Kiss Me Coral is a creamy vibrant orange color that can be worn on its own for those who are a little shy about having bright orange lips since this will still give a little color on your lips without being too over the top.

Pinkissimo (I love that name) is a nice shimmery rose colored pink. I wouldn't say its as pigmented as Kiss Me Coral but its a great color to layer ontop of more matte nude pink lipstick.

Final Thoughts: I am mad at myself that I didn't try Revlon lipglosses sooner since these are far from being sticky and tacky! Very creamy, a pleasure to apply onto the lips and pretty pigmented for the most part! I would love to try more of these lipglosses in the future!

Where you can get this product: At any drugstore, Target, & WalMart
Cost: $5.99
Overall Grade: A
Would I recommend this product?: Yes! These are a must have in any girl's purse and are great on their own or for layering!

Thank you so much & I will talk to you all very soon!

Review! Dior Jelly Lip Pen in Gaia No 656!

It seems like the latest craze in the beauty world besides CC creams and BB creams (I heard there is a BB cream for your hair now... seriously?) is these lip pens or lip crayons. The drugstore brands like Revlon and Covergirl were the first to start the trend and now I am seeing them everywhere.

Dior released three new Jelly Lip Pens in their new limited edition Summer 2013 collection. I only picked up one called Gaia No 656. I like to think of it has a soft nude rose color that I think would look great for everyday wear!

 Gaia

The one thing that I was hesitant about trying the Dior Jelly Lip Pen was if it would have the spearmint scent that almost all of the other brands have. I don't hate the scent but I want my gum to be minty not my lip products.

Thankfully, this lip pen has no scent!

Gaia swatched on bottom. Dior Addict Lipstick in Exatique on top
In the photo above, I wanted to show you guys the comparison between the Dior Addict Lipstick I picked up in Exatique and the jelly lip pen in Gaia.

You can see that Gaia (bottom) has a much softer color and is more natural looking.

I think these lip pens are something to look into if your willing to spend the money.

These lip pens are super creamy and soft on the lips. They also are super easy to apply and are great on the go to just throw in your bag or clutch. Next time your out shopping, go to your Dior counter and check these out for yourself!

Where you can get this product: At your closest Dior counter or Dior.com
Cost: $26

Review! L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow!

I know, I might be one of the last people in the beauty world to try these eye shadows because they came out so long ago!

And now that I tried them, I keep kicking myself for not getting these sooner!

These L'Oreal infallible eyeshadows have become some of my favorite shadows to reach for for not only the buttery feel to them but on how pigmented these are!

I would describe these shadows as a pressed pigment because inside comes a little stopper to hold the shadow together. (Don't throw it away! Otherwise your shadow will fall apart!)

L'Oreal has released a bunch of different shades for this line and they are all beautiful. I have been hearing so many things about the shadow called Amber Rush which is a beautiful rose gold color and knew I had to get my hands on it. When I was looking at the display I wanted to try another color that was still neutral so I went with bronzed taupe.

Amber Rush left & Bronzed Taupe on Right

Here are the little stoppers to hold down the shadow.

Amber Rush right & Bronzed Taupe on Left

Here swatched: Left is Bronzed Taupe and Amber Rush is on right.

-Review-

Packaging: Simple and sweet. What else is there to say?

How it feels: These shadows are super soft and literally feel like butter. I would say that these shadows are better than some really high end shadows!

How it lasts: I would say to wear a primer underneath for sure but I never noticed it creasing on me until very late in the day which doesn't upset me because that that point I just want a nice clean face.

Overall Grade: A+
Price: $6.99
Where to get this product: Any drugstore.

Final Thoughts: I think everyone should have these shadows in their collection! They really are amazing quality for what their worth!

Review! L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara!

Hey Everyone!

I had to tell you guys about this mascara I recently picked up because it really is a great drugstore mascara! This is the new L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara that is advertised to be the new mascara that gives your eyelashes "telescopic" length. You can pick this up anywhere where L'Oreal cosmetics is sold.

Here are some close up photos and a in depth review!

I really like how sleek and simple the packaging is.

Here is the wand and I like the slight curve in the middle of the wand to make the ends of your lashes more length to long-gate your eyes.

On my right left eye I am wearing the mascara. On the left, nothing on my lashes.

Review:
Packaging: I love the simple packaging. It looks sleek and sophisticated.
Formula: I love that this formula doesn't clump or flake and I also noticed that it can hold a curl all day.
Overall Thoughts: I think this mascara is a must try for beauty junkies and it really does make a big difference from wearing nothing to putting on this mascara. My eyes appear larger and more awake.

Shopping in the Drugstore & Department Stores! Tips and Advice!

Hello Beauties!

I am so excited to share this post with you all because I think that this topic isn't discussed much and I think it should be!

This post is going to discuss the differences from shopping at a drugstore and shopping at a high end counter or Sephora! It is also going to include some tips, advice and personal stories! :)

DRUGSTORE MAKEUP SHOPPING:

The world of Drugstore shopping is something I think all beauty lovers know and understand. Drugstore makeup is so easy to get a hold of because you can get it at of course every drugstore out there, supermarkets, some specialty beauty stores like Ulta or Sallys, and I have even heard they have a beauty department in SOME Bed Bath & Beyonds'.  Since drugstore makeup isn't expensive a lot of people especially teenagers turn to drugstore makeup.

PROS:
- Convenient and easy to get a hold of.
- Affordable
- Drugstores usually have sales of buy one get one 50% off or other deals so you can even save more money.
- Usually drugstore brands advertise on tv making the customer more interested in trying a new product or the brand in general.

CONS:
- You can't test the product out before buying.
- Some products may have been used or opened.
- Some displays may be messy and unorganized. ( I have never seen any of my drugstores have this problem but I have been in my Walmart to try the new Flower collection from Drew Barrymore and it was a complete mess)

TIPS:
- If you are an avid beauty shopper at drugstores, sign up for their reward card where you can save money, rack up points and get perks!
- Make sure a product hasn't been opened or cracked by inspecting it closely and all the seals seem to be in good condition.
- If you find out from a blog or Youtube video about a product that is just being released and you want to get your hands on it first, make sure to check with your drugstores frequently because some products sell so fast its crazy!
- If you are looking for something new from the brand, look for a small display that is usually shown at the front of the beauty area or around it. Chances are it won't be where they have their older products.

Advice:
When it comes to drugstore shopping, I prefer shopping in the later hours or in the middle of the day during the week. I like to shop and walk around the area with lots of space. If you beauties are in high school and can drive, swing by the drugstore after school to pick up that lipstick or eyeshadow because I find that drugstores tend to be empty between 2 and 4:30ish.

OVERALL:
I love shopping at the Drugstore because I find it so exciting to see the new displays and whenever there is a sale going on I always love to check out what's new or if I need to repurchase a product. Most of if not all drugstores have their own store card that you use for discounts. Most sales that happen cannot apply unless you use your store card (which is why I said before get those cards! They are free and great to save $$$!) I find that if you don't take a hold of the discounts, drugstore makeup can actually get very expensive if you purchase a lot of items! Overall guys, drugstore shopping is one of my favorite things to shop for!

HIGH END/ BEAUTY COUNTERS:

Now when it comes to High end makeup shopping, your strategy is completely different and you get a whole different shopping experience. High end makeup shopping can be fun, exciting and more hands on when it comes to the products themselves. There are so many high end makeup brands from Urban Decay to Dior. Don't forget stores like MAC and Inglot where they are still higher end but usually have their own stores. When it comes to more designer type makeup, you can usually find them in any high end department store like Macys, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. They are also easy to access online as well from the brands website and/or the stores website.

PROS:
-The environment is much more hands on where you can play the test the product out before you buy it.
- If you get help from an associate they can even give you a step by step look by using the products and also give you tips.
- The area is clean, organized and displayed nicely.
- There are specialty associates who know these products so well that they can answer any question you might have about a certain item.
- This usually only happens when you purchase something, but sales associates are told to promote their other products so usually if you purchase an item, they will throw in a few samples of their new perfume or mascara!
-Some department stores have sales or events going on where you can meet professional makeup artists, get access to special promotions and sometimes even get free goodies!

CONS:
- There are usually no sales or specials so you almost always have to pay full price for everything.
- Some of these products can get very pricey, so be careful not to go overboard because you can easily go over $200 with just a few items.
- Beware of the pushy sales associate! There are some men/women out there that are so determined to reach their sales goal that it feels like they are pushing you to buy something. Don't let them push you! If you are not 100% sure then maybe go off shopping somewhere else. If you continue to think about that product and really are interested then buy it. If you forget about it, then don't bother.
- Sometimes you may get ignored depending on the day you go (weekends) because other associates are busy helping other clients. Because when it comes to most high end makeup counters, you cannot just grab what you want, a sales associate has access to all of the products behind the counter. You may also be ignored because of your age! Usually people who shop at more expensive counters are adult women or older women.
- In my state, it is illegal it perform a demo on someone who is under 18 due to the risk of skin reactions or other effects. If you are interested in trying some higher end makeup and you are under 18, bring your mom, aunt, friend, sister, brother, dad..whoever and tell them you are interested in purchasing something and you need them to be there.

Advice:
When it comes to the right time to shop for these products I cannot stress enough to go during the week! If you really want to get a great experience while shopping, go during the week at night or during the day because usually these counters/stores are empty and most sales associates are dying of boredom and if they see an interested customer they will love to help you and you will get the attention you need.

If you are shopping and you want to try a lip product or in fact any product, DON'T use the product sample that is on display. Makeup areas can actually be one of the dirtiest places in a shopping mall. In Sephora they have little mini lipgloss applicators or mascara wands that are available at little stations throughout the store so you can still use the product but with a clean disposable applicator. When it comes to more higher end stores with counters, the sales associates have all of the brushes and applicators so if you would like to see how a product would look on yourself, a sales associate would be happy to help you.

And once again guys, I know shopping at these types of stores and counters can become exciting but be careful because some of these brands can charge up to $50 for a single lipstick! Also, if you are looking at something that is in their permanent collection but can't really spend the money right now, don't worry chances are a few months down the road that same product will still be there.

I just learned this the other day but I recently found out the Neiman Marcus has an specialist come in about every other month to give FREE facials! I actually booked my appointment for next month to get one! I am so excited! It's stuff like this why I love department store makeup shopping!

OVERALL:
When it comes to shopping in this realm, it is completely different. Shopping for higher end makeup can be fun and exciting but sometimes not so fun on your wallet. Always remember too that if you can't get it now, you can always get it later which is the beauty of it! - like my pun there? :) Side note, if you want something from a seasonal collection sadly you have to get it within a short period of time but usually brands will carry something very similar to it just in case you couldn't get it in time!

Well that is my post!

I hope you found this post helpful and maybe will inspire you shop differently and strategically to get the best deals, the most help, or whatever you want to get from your shopping experience!

Talk to you all soon!

Follow for updates!

New Product! The Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo Shadows in Metallic Shades!

Hello everyone!

After hearing about a ton of new drugstore beauty products I decided I had to check it out! I ran to CVS and got a bunch of new products I am so excited to try. My favorite purchases of the night were the new Maybelline Color Tattoo Shadows in metallics.

There were five new colors (also these shadows are going to join the original collection! No Limited Time Only! YAY!) The three that I picked up were my favorite out of the collection!

The silver color is called Silver Strike
The beautiful gold color is called Gold Rush
The stunning pink color is called Inked in Pink

These shadows are super creamy, blend beautifully, have amazing pigmentation and stay on the lid all night!

I have a few of the other shadows from the original collection and love them so when I heard about the metallic collection I was like.."CVS here I come!"

You can check out your local drugstore, Target, Walmart...etc to find these new shadows! They are probably in a display so try to look around the front of the beauty section or near the display of the regular Maybelline Products!

If you guys want to see the rest of the colors, here is the link to Maybelline's website:

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! Talk to you soon!

December Birchbox!

Hey guys!

Its January already and I gotta tell you guys about my December Birchbox!

First off I want to say that I loved the print on the box for the holidays very beautiful and festive!

What I got in my box:
Thymes Body Lotion: I got two samples of the body lotion, in a generous sample size to take with me on the go, and one in a packet form. I really am enjoying this lotion because it makes my hands feel amazing and super soft. I do have to say though that the scent is a little strong for a hand cream. I don't use it on my body but anyway I like the smell but just a little too strong for my taste.

ModelCo Shine Ultra Lipgloss: I love this lipgloss! Not sticky, the sample size is awesome and the scent is to die for! I have this weird thing were I want my lipglosses to either smell or taste good. This smells so sweet and candy like! The color is beautiful as well making my lips alone look full and a slight pop of pink!

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream: If you guys didn't know, I am in love with BB Creams. In fact, I don't even wear foundation anymore because I am not looking for something with full coverage. When I saw this in my box I was super excited becaues apparently CC creams are the next "big thing". CC cream stands for Color Corrector Cream where its basically alike the BB cream but this sample I got is supposed to support Cellular growth which I thought was interesting. I did like the feeling it had on my skin and it wasn't too heavy. I didn't however like the consistency because it was a little thick but once you blended it into the skin it was fine.

Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique: I got two sample packets of this leave in heat protector. I have heard other gurus talk about this product saying its amazing and makes your hair feel great. The key with this product is you want to apply it when your hair is still damp or towel dry. The chemicals in the protector will activate once heat is used on the hair. I have used this a couple of times and really enjoy it. It also makes my hair feel very soft and strong. However I have heard that this is a pretty expensive product ($42) I usually don't splurge on hair products cause I know I can find similar ones at the drugstore at a more reasonable price. But maybe in the future I will look at purchasing it because I really did enjoy using it.

Well that's my Birchbox guys! I haven't gotten my January one yet but I hope its a great one to start off 2013 on a great box!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post!

Talk to you all soon!

November Birchbox!

Hello Everyone!

It is 2 days before Christmas! Where did this year go? And the world didn't end this past Friday woo!

I hope that you all are having a great holiday season!

Its Birchbox time and I wanted to tell you guys about my November box!

Whats in my box:

ModelCo Fibre Lashxtend Lengthening Mascara: I must admit at first that I didn't like the shape of the brush because it looks like your average big fat brush and can easily clump my lashes but I have used this a lot recently and I love it! It doesn't clump and it gives my lashes tons of length! I'm not sure if I will repurchase it because it is a little pricey for a mascara being $24.. but I must say it does work well.

Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Petite Cologne Absolue: Alright guys, I must say I strongly disliked this scent from the beginning. When I was reading the description it sounded nice but it smells like a grandmother's perfume. I used to work at the Macy's Fragrance Department last Holiday Season and my manager would have called this perfume a "classic" scent. It basically means that the scent would smell better on someone who is a lot older and 55+. It smells super woodsy and a slight floral but whenever I get one whiff of it, I immediately think of someone who is a lot older than me. And no I will not purchase this.

Chauo Chocolatier  Assorted ChocoPod: On a more positive note on this one, I loved it! It was super delish! I received the Chocolate Covered Potato Chip. Super yummy that tasted salty and sweet and the layer of chocolate around the chip wasn't too thick or thin and you got the perfect balance. Loved it and yes I would love to purchase this! They also had other flavors too! Yumm!

LuLu Organics Lavender + Clary Sage Hair Powder: This was my first time ever using a dry shampoo in powder form. Since I have brown hair I was a little nervous that my hair would look a little ashy but I must say it works really well. I am not super crazy on the smell because I like lavender but I am not a huge fan. Also I was looking at the full size of the product it was $30. I don't like to spend a ton on hair products because I find that I can get just as good quality at the drugstore or beauty store. I will say it was a nice product though.

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector: I have used this product multiple times and although it feels nice on the skin, I did notice that it did smell strange and the smell lingered on my skin. Its advertised as a imperfection corrector but I really didn't see any difference with my uneven skin tone. I have to say I wasn't thrilled with this product because in all it really didn't do much. Plus it is very expensive for the full size. ($58)

I hoped you guys enjoyed November Birchbox and I am currently using my December box products and so far so good!

Thank you all!
